Let's share some recipies!

While I'm once again waiting for paint to dry I decided to share with you my experience and knowledge of (minimal) plastering. I can't take the credit of this great innovation, because it's not mine, but I've tried it and at least my house's facade looks as I wanted it to look. The magic ingredient is semolina. It's cheap and available in your nearest grocery shop, I'm sure. Instead of cooking a porridge, you might want to try this recipe!

First paint the piece you are working at with (a base coat) of paint. Wait until the paint has dried.
Then spread evenly some glue on that painted surface. Do not use any quickly drying glue, mind you... While the glued surface is still wet, sprinkle semolina on the glue. Right, have a fag, pour yourself a glas of wine or take the hoover out of the cupboard, because you'll need it sooner or later.
Now then, there should  be semolina all over the glued surface and all over the floor. Preferably forget about the whole thing at least for some hours or over night (as if)! The idea is to leave the glued and semolina covered surface in peace, DON'T touch it, and never mind the floors!
When the porridge-cover surface has dried, brush or sweep by the palm of your hand all the extra away and admire your work! And then paint the surface once or twice with the colour you've chosen!

Goodbye moodiness!

Hello there!
AM's comment for my last post was a wakeup call much needed. Thak you AM for being so inspirational!
I really started to think what's wrong with me! Why do I take this dollshouse business so bloody seriously? Have I entered a competition? I THINK NOT!
Building a dollshouse is really fun but I think that the seasonal affective disorder is trying to catch me, thouhg a bit late this year. So, I'll take some Vitamine-D from a jar, stop whining and go treasure hunting!
This is very important because I've lost my favorite little saw with red handle! I guess I lost it during my thorough Christmas cleaning. (You know, what you can't sweep under a carpet you can always hide in cupboard)! Would really need to find it now but if I won't I'm sure I'll find plenty of other stuff I didn't know I have...

A little saw with a red handle... Can yoy see it in there?

Tippalippa?

One tiny problem half solved! As your's truly (the complete idiot) cut the frames too short, something had to be done. I know, here we go again, but take a deep breath!
To grow the hight of these frames I added those actually-not-too-bad-looking plastered pieces under the windows, but what now? Any ideas? Any at all? You see I was thinking of adding drop sprockets above the windows,  but now I'm not sure...The gaps, thank heavens are not as big as you may think according this picture,  but they are still wider than the gap between my upper front teeth, so help!
Mattblack painted drop sprockets? Or something plastered and utterly boring (but yet so familiar)  you would see in many facades of houses built during the first half of 1900's  in Helsinki and around?

Here we go again!

Yes, I have a confession to make. Once more. Those damn window fraims I made... have I told about them yet? Yes/No? Well,  I made them too short, so there's hallelujah for me!  And as this would not be shocking enough, I in fact noticed my mistake days ago, but still carried on!

Had this screwup happened a few years ago, I would have probably jumped from our 1:1 balcony into a deep drift of snow (at this time of year and not a long fall, mind you) but now I'm just cool as a cucumber, so my medication must be just about right.
Now I've already started to make some preparations to minimize the damidge but I can only say that the final result of this catastrophic building episode is going to be a big suprise mostly for myself!

Maybe some day I'll write a book named Zen and the Art of Building a Dollhouse.
